OPERATING RULES

NOTE: Rules and forms of train orders with a prefix "S" are for single track; those with a prefix "D" are for two or more tracks. Rules and forms of train orders without a prefix are for single and two or more tracks.

STANDARD TIME

1. Standard Time must be obtained daily at 1200 Hours by the Assistant Chief Train Dispatcher, from the Time Service provided by the telephone company. All Standard Clocks in the dispatcher's office must be corrected at that time. Standard Clocks located at other points will be corrected by the employe in charge as soon thereafter as practicable by communicating with the Assistant Chief Train Dispatcher or Train Dispatcher.
Twenty-four Hour Time will be used for alt operations. Twenty-four hour time is a method whereby the hours of the day are counted consecutively from one minute past midnight, 0001 hours, until midnight, 2400 hours, the end of the day. A.M. and P.M. will not be used.

2. Reliable railroad grade watches must be used by conductors, enginemen, trainmen, yard masters, track car drivers, and others who may be designated.

3. Watches of conductors, enginemen, trainmen, and others who may be designated must be compared with a standard dock where accessible before commencing each day's work. The time when watches are compared must be registered on a prescribed form. The location of standard clocks will be shown in the Time Table.

(a) Conductors and enginemen, not having access to a standard clock, must compare watches with conductors or enginemen who have standard time and have registered, or must receive standard time by wire before commencing each day's work.
(b) The conductor and enginemen of a crew must compare watches with each other before starting on their initial trip.
Conductors and Enginemen in freight service may compare watches with each other by train radio.
